City of Waycross Participating in Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade
For over 50 years, cities across Georgia have brought the joy of the holiday season to patients at Georgia’s seven regional mental health and retardation hospitals through the Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade. The program, begun by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) in cooperation with Governor Ernest Vandiver, relies on citizen participation in each city to donate gifts for the patients, many of who would not receive gifts or be recognized without the Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade. According to hospital staff, many of the patients at these hospitals have lived there most of their lives and have little, if any, support or contact with friends and family. Donated items from the City of Waycross will be delivered to Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah on December 8, 2010. Civic organizations, businesses, churches, schools, scout troops and individual citizens are encouraged to help with the collection of gifts for the Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade. Please make your donation of a new and unwrapped gift at the Mary Street City Fire Station, City Hall or The Chamber of Commerce.

There will be no Swampfest Meeting this December. 
Swampfest Design Competition 
SWAMPFEST IS COMING – April 1 and 2, 2011. Attention all artist. Have your work become wearable art by submitting your design to the Swampfest Committee for selections as the 2011 shirt. Preferably submit your graphic design as a jpg, pdf or some other common image format to lgattis@waycrossga.com or you can mail your design to Waycross Main Street, PO Drawer 99, Waycross, GA 31502. A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a trained community volunteer who is appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interests of an abused, neglected or abandoned child in juvenile court proceedings. They work alongside attorneys, social workers, treatment providers and other professionals to advocate for the child.

2010 Waycross Christmas Parade   
 This year’s theme is “LIGHT THE NIGHT” In Waycross, Santa comes to town on a big red fire truck and each year we celebrate his arrival with a huge parade through Historic Downtown. The parade includes the familiar faces of the Pogo Possum, Shoney Bear, and of course the sounds of the Ware County High School Golden Gator Marching Band. Bring your jackets and enjoy watching the beautifully decorated floats made by our local business and churches, leading up to the children's favorite... Santa on the big red fire truck! Voices of Mobile
Voices of Mobile the 16 voice college ensemble tour will stop in Waycross at Central Baptist. 201 Ava Street. Waycross to give their Christmas concert at 7:00-9:00 pm. This group is Led by Roger Breland of famed Christian ensemble “TRUTH”. Voices have traveled to many countries, churches, TV broadcast and sang at The White House for several years.

Chamber of Commerce 'Lunch & Learn'
Customer Service III: Office Organization and Time Management 
The Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce and the Existing Business & Industry Committee are ending the 2010 series of Lunch & Learn Seminars with a topic which will benefit everyone who works. Who among us could become more organized or use our time better? This session will provide strategies to kick off the New Year by getting employees and managers organized through email utilization, creating priority lists, and effective time management. 
The seminar will be led by Jason Rubenbauer, the Continuing Education Director for OTC. Jason also is a small business owner and a member of the Chamber of Commerce. 
The seminar is scheduled for Room 210 on the Okefenokee Technical College’s main campus. Participants should arrive by 11.30 am for lunch and the seminar concludes by 1.30 pm. The cost is $20.00 for the first participant from any Chamber member business with any additional staff members costing $15.00 each. Reservations are required. There are a limited number of spaces available, so be sure to register early. Please call the Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce at (912) 283-3742 no later than Monday, December 20th at 5.00 pm.

The Waycross Service League presents their 3rd annual Charity Ball. Proceeds raised from this event will benefit Kingdom Care. Kingdom Care is a non-profit, volunteer-based, free clinic that provides medical, dental, and optical care to those in need. More than 75 physicians, nurses, dentists, dental hygienists and optometrists volunteer their services to help Kingdom Care patients in Ware, Pierce, Brantley, Charlton, and Clinch Counties.
